For the first time, the Canadian Meat Council’s 12th Technical Symposium will be joining the Meat & Poultry Ontario Trade Show in the Niagara Convention Center on October 24-26, 2024. Symposium attendees would have the opportunity to participate at the Trade Show and our associate members will have preferential access to exhibit during the symposium and/or at the Trade Show.
At the CMC 12th Technical Symposium held on Thursday October 24th, 2024, Government officials, speakers and exhibitors will discuss topics related to food safety, our inspection system, innovation, and different aspects important for our industry. The TAG provided some topics which would like to hear speakers to talk about such as food safety, food safety education, allergens guidance, detection of foreign materials, innovative packaging materials, aspects affecting sustainability of our industry, retention of employees in meat plants, among other. The Public Health Agency of Canada will present about emerging food safety issues according to surveillance programs and how antimicrobial use and resistance may affect our industry with current domestic and international developments. Allergen guidance will be discussed deeply and CFIA will present how our inspection system evolved and the next challenges. Health Canada will be presenting Food Safety Education for consumer initiatives and how industry may adopt those. Other speakers will discuss sustainability initiatives related to labor, retention of workers, plastic use, automation and data collection needed to demonstrate our industry is sustainable.
