Canadian Meat Council Welcomes Russ Mallard as New Board Chair

Ottawa, ON – The Canadian Meat Council (CMC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Russ Mallard, President of Atlantic Beef Products Inc., as the new Chair of its Board of Directors. With a wealth of experience in the meat industry and a strong commitment to innovation and sustainability, Mallard is poised to lead the Council in addressing the challenges and opportunities facing the sector.

Mallard has served on the board since 2020, serving as Vice Chair for the past two years. His appointment comes at a critical juncture as the industry navigates the complexities and challenges of global markets, inflation, trade disruptions, and labour availability. CMC would also like to congratulate the returning board members as well as extend its gratitude to the outgoing Chair, Kerry Towle, for her outstanding contributions during her tenure. Towle’s leadership has been instrumental in steering CMC through significant milestones and challenges, and her legacy will undoubtedly have a lasting impact on the industry.

As CMC looks ahead, the organization remains committed to representing the interests of its members and advancing the Canadian meat sector’s reputation for quality, safety, and sustainability. Once again, we welcome the 2024-2025 Board of Directors.
