Canadian Meat Council statement on recently announced USDA labeling rules
In response to the recently announced USDA rules “Product of USA” Label Claim to Enhance Consumer Protection, Canadian Meat Council’s President & CEO, Chris White, issued the following response:
“For decades, we have worked with our North American counterparts to create one of the most integrated markets in the world; one that stimulates commerce and satisfies consumers on either side of the border.
Through close engagement with our government, the Canadian Meat Council will continue advocating for reduced barriers to entry and ensure label claims do not restrict Canada’s red meat industry from a market that we’ve exported over $11.3 billion to and imported nearly $4.9 billion worth of pork, beef, and veal products from since 2022 alone.”
