CMC Associate Members Steve Morin Scholarship Fund

The Canadian Meat Council Associate Members Committee administers annual funds, in the name of the Steve Morin Scholarship Fund, that provide scholarship grants to individuals of selected colleges and universities to assist the recipients in completing a graduate education in the field of meat processing or packaging operations and or meat science disciplines.

Total awards will vary and will be determined based on fundraising activities conducted by the Associate Members Committee on an annual basis. These funds will be divided amongst the preselected schools and the totals will vary by year. Not all schools may be selected every year based on the committees’ determination. Determination will be made based on total funds available and the number of candidates selected. The selection committee may request and or accept recommendations from schools regarding candidates and scholarship awards.

Eligibility
Students must be actively enrolled in graduate education in the field of Meat Processing or Packaging operations and or Meat Sciences. Candidates will be Canadian citizens or have landed immigrant status and will reside in Canada and plan their work career in to reside in Canada. Once selected Candidates will be notified by June 30th and a cheque in the name of the individual sent to the successful candidate. Funds will not be sent to or in the name of the institution.

Evaluation Procedure:
The applications are reviewed by the CMC Associate Membership Selection Committee and will be evaluated on:

  • Individual academic performance based on the academic record of the student and letters of reference provided
  • Demonstration of interest in pursuing a career in the meat industry in Canada and or in a meat science-related field in Canada.
